8. MV Agusta 750S – Sold for $143,662
The company MV Agusta is a complex one. They created a motorcycle unlike any other during their time. This company creating a spectacular bike that was made to be enjoyed. It’s considered a dream bike for many motorcycle riders world wide. And those turned down handlebars look similar to an old Triumph or BMW motorcycle. Created in 1972 it’s a factory made bike that turns heads and cost a whole lotta money. This one is just the tip of the iceberg of expensive motorcycles, the next one is even more expensive.
7. Suzuki AEM Carbon Fiber Haysbusa – $160,000 to $200,000
That’s right, there are more expensive motorcycles. Have you ever seen a motorcycle built exclusively with carbon fiber? Me either. However this motorcycle gets close. Suzuki created a motorcycle that is extremely light. From it’s very light weight frame and its ability to go to more than 186 miles per hour it’s a motorcycle that turns heads in more ways than one. For the price of a modest home, you can own one too. While this might not be the most exclusive motorcycle available, the next one is just one of ten ever made.
6. One of only ten 750cc, four-cylinder Brough Superior BS4s built, this machine sold for £246,400 (US$375,913) in April 2013
If the word sexy was used to describe a bike , this motorcycle would be it’s definition. An extremely expensive motorcycle that looks amazing from all possible angles. Introduced to the world in 1932 , it was built to provide the rider with exceptional performance and unparalleled refinement . It has that very cool saddle seat and one monster headlight. This amazing motorcycle is only one of ten 750cc bikes built within the company. This is one expensive bike but it doesn’t compare to the next one. The next motorcycle requires a trip across the Channel to Deutschland.
5. 1939 BMW RS255 ‘Kompressor’ sold for US$480,000
This is one extremely sexy looking motorcycle. And it’s fast speed only makes it that much more amazing to look at. It has a history too , it was ridden by George Meier in the 1939 Senior TT. He won with a time of 2 hours, 57 minutes and 19 seconds. This is a bike that turned the heads of many when it crossed the auction stage only a few years ago. Selling for close to $500,000 it’s a bike worthy of mentioning. Will need to head across the pond for the next expensive motorcycle … it is even older and more expensive!
4. A 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer sold for US$551,200 in July, 2008 at Mid-America Auctions
In 2008 , an amazing 1915 racer bike crossed the auction stage in Mid- America Auctions. Heads turns and bidding with like crazy. It resulted in the motorcycle being sold for $551,200. The 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer (not the 1914 shown here) holds a V-Twin engine which was considered a well powered in those days. With an output of 45 horses, it’s still considered a fast bike worthy of a good race or two. A one of a kind bike with a super high price. But there are still more! And even older!
3. 1910 Winchester sold for US$580,000
Only few remain that can be bought and owned. Most can be seen in museums all over the world. This piece has long been considered a piece of art. With a single cylinder, 6- horse power and a leather belt – drive its a rare bike. As of this writing the current owner is Jerry Morrison.
The history on this is that the Winchester Repeating Arms Company commissioned Edwin F. Merry Company of San Fransisco to build 200 motorcycles between 1909 and 1911. Apparently there are only two known Winchester motorcycles remaining and you are looking at one of them. The other known motorcycle, a 1909 version, attracted a bid of $520,000 but failed to make the reserve price. Maybe this article will need to be updated when that model sells sometime in the future. The next motorcycle is more than double the price of this one.
2. Easy Rider Bike — Sold for US$1.35 million on October 18, 2014 – Maybe
Have you seen the movie Easy Rider featuring Peter Fonda and directed by Dennis Hopper? During the filming many bikes were ruined by the stunts within the film. A Captain America bike was the one of only four to survive.
That’s one lucky bike!
This Panhead Harley-Davidson 1993 replica is outlined with small areas of the American flag. This motorcycle will be forever known as the most recognizable motorcycle in history. This is the second most expensive motorcycle!
1. Ecosse ES1 Superbike $3.6 Million
Finally we have come to end of our list. This motorcycle is currently considered the most expensive bike in the world. When creating this massively powerful bike, their focus was of course the speed of the motorcycle. It’s system is made of electronic control which allows the bike to be light, fast and handle amazingly. With new motorcycles coming out every year, some time soon there will be a motorcycle that even surpasses this one. Only time will tell.
Add those motorcycles up and you are talking about $7.2 million dollars. What do you think it would cost for motorcycle insurance?
