This is Alaska, and while the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry might not be just for automobiles, the collection that represents the Alaskan transportation history is impressive.
|Size||663267 square miles|
|Nickname||The Last Frontier,The Land of the Midnight Sun|
|Motto||North to the Future|
|Statehood||January 3, 1959|
|Notes||The largest and most sparsely populated state is home to the highest peak in North America, Mt. McKinley also known as Denali. Fun fact: In 1977, the Alaska Pipeline construction between Prudhoe Bay and Valdez was completed. This ~800 mile long pipeline is part of what funds the Alaska Permanent Fund. The Alaska Permanent Fund started in 1977 with $734,000 and is presently valued at close to $54,000,000,000 – yes, that is billion. The fund distributes money to all citizens not recently convicted of a crime. Over the years, the lowest annual amount distributed is $321 and the highest is $2,069. So, if you are thinking of moving to Alaska, there’s another reason for you 🙂|
